The Terminal Operator’s primary responsibility is to safely and timely unload rail cars to trucks within the terminal facility. The Terminal Operator will understand, and follow, operating procedures and policies. FULL-TIME position, some overtime may be required, must be flexible This position is eligible for a rich benefit package including health insurance, dental, vision, disability and paid time off; plus more! Responsibilities / Job Duties: • Daily unloading of rail cars. • Must have the ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies. • Ability to operate rail car loading systems. o May Include: vehicles with manual transmission and yard tractor • Required to perform work safely and productively. • Willingness in being cross trained on all functions at the terminal facility. • Must possess strong work ethic and the willingness to follow procedures. • Keep work area clean and organized. • Must not be afraid to ask questions. • Read and write clearly and accurately fill out all required paperwork. • Enforce all safety policies and procedures with other employees and visitors. • Perform general maintenance on equipment, as necessary. • Work independently and in a team setting in a helpful and professional manner. • Interact with customers, railroad crews, and visitors, in a professional manner. Requirements/Qualifications: • Must be able to read, write, and understand English. • Perform basic math skills. • Light computer skills would be a plus. • Possess a valid Driver's License. • Capable of learning how to operate and maintain rail car and trans-loading equipment (hoses, portable conveyors, small to medium sized equipment, etc.). • Must have a willingness to learn new skills and be teachable. Education/Experience: • High School Diploma or GED equivalent • Minimum 1-2 years of experience with materials handling a plus Physical Requirements: • Physically able to climb up and down rail cars and ladders, safely. • Work outside in ALL weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps, etc).
