Looking for small breed

I'm looking for a small breed puppy for an emotional support companion. A couple times I have thought I had found one (the most recent was a Pomeranian) but since I had to talk it over with my husband they have been sold out from under me. Willing to pay a reasonable fee but not the 400 and up prices I have seen most being sold for. I just would like the chance to try to get out of the house again and not be controlled completely by my anxiety.
