Manual Therapy for Shoulder Diagnoses
This course will integrate the clinical decision-making responsibilities of the practicing Physical Therapist. It will cover topics which will include shoulder, cervical spine, and thoracic spine examination and hands-on application of manual therapy techniques.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
1. Differentiate common tendinopathy conditions of the shoulder, and apply appropriate manual therapy techniques to address the underlying pathology.
2. Recognize red flag conditions that require a referral to appropriate medical practitioners.
3. Differentiate common cervical spine and thoracic outlet dysfunctions that mimic or coexist with shoulder diagnoses.
4. Provide diagnosis-specific exercise programs to address underlying pathology and restore function.
5. Address interdependent structures and problems that contribute to or delay recovery from shoulder diagnoses.
