SEASONAL WORK –FIRE SEASON. Big Sky Mobile Catering is a mobile caterer that feeds Wildland Firefighters during the summer fire season. FOOD WORKER/CAMP HELP- FIRE SEASON Compensation: The wage starts at $15.42/hr. DOE ($10.88 base wage + $4.54 health and welfare) for the first 40 hours, then time and a half after that is $16.32/hr. Paychecks are sent out bi-weekly. employment type: seasonal contract SEASONAL HIRE ONLY! THIS JOB ONLY LASTS FROM JUNE 15TH - SEPTEMBER 30TH. BSMC can be called anywhere in the Western United States to set up at a fire camp- Montana, Oregon, Washington, California, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, etc. Fires last anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks to a couple of months, depending on the size of the fire. You must have a tent, sleeping bag, good footwear, etc. and be willing and able to work between 10-16 hours per day 7 days a week (until the fire ends). Standing on your feet for hours at a time and some heavy lifting required. We provide transport to and from the fire. Some driving could be required, Drivers License is REQUIRED for all positions. The company provides t-shirts and baseball caps. We have a washer/dryer for laundry and there are showers at fire camp. Big Sky Mobile Catering is out there to help the fire fighters do their jobs by keeping them well fed. The hours are long and challenging, but it can be fun and exciting. It's just making sure that the food tastes good, is fresh and ready to go when the fire fighters arrive for their meals. We feed them a hot breakfast, a hot dinner and a sack lunch. The job entails preparation and distribution of food and drinks during meal hours, there is also food packing involved (cooking experience NOT required, some prepping involved depending on experience). If you can handle the anticipation of waiting for a fire call and then working long hours while we are at a fire camp, this might be for you!
