The City of Ellensburg is accepting applications for Temporary Student Laborers. These positions are available to current students (18 years and older) and are temporary positions scheduled to work 40 hours per week. They are non-benefited positions except for earning paid sick leave at a rate of one (1) hour for every paid forty (40) hours worked. Employees are eligible to begin using accrued paid sick leave on the ninetieth (90th) calendar day after the commencement of his/her employment.
Work will be performed under the direction of the forepersons in the gas, street, WWTP, and shop/warehouse. Positions will begin in June and will last approximately until the middle of September. Will perform various tasks related to the respective division duties.
Open until filled, however applications will be reviewed as they are received beginning 4/9/21, so applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. These positions are represented by Teamsters Local Union No. 760.
Salary: $20.26/hour (40-hour work week)
Qualifications:
Valid Washington State Driver’s License, insurable driving record, current student status, and must be at least 18 years old. Current flagger, first aid/CPR certification, and experience with motorized vehicles and equipment is desirable. Candidates who proceed to an interview and background will be required to provide a driving abstract and proof of current student status.
Miscellaneous:
Applicants who would fill positions in the Gas Division may be subject to and must pass a pre-employment urine drug screen, and upon employment participate in the controlled substance and alcohol testing program mandated by the Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration.
