Description

Celebrate YAY-pril by volunteering with us! TL;DR: Sign up here to join us for our *first outdoor event* of the year at Lincoln Park! What does Volunteering Untapped and Captain Li Shang's battalion from Disney's Mulan® have in common? Mmmmmmm? Anyone? THAT'S RIGHT we ARE gonna get down to business! Live footage of us on April 10th: Except for those sticks are gonna be brooms and rakes and instead of a dramatic, slow-motion, aerial kick, we'll be doing not that! Nor will we be doing any face brick-crushing because I'm p sure our insurance wouldn't cover it: But rest assured, business will be gotten down to because we will be beautifying the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool with Lincoln Park Conservancy! But first... Outdoor Yoga Lincoln Park Conservatory Garden at 9AMOur friend @mikeonthemat will be leading a calm, stretching focused outdoor yoga class to kick off our first outdoor event of the year!Join us for a 40 minute optional yoga class in front of the Lincoln Park Conservatory garden and start off your day with the beautiful view of the city.Wear comfortable clothes, have some water on hand, and a yoga mat or towel. We will be accepting donations on behalf of Cardz for Kidz to raise funds and donate an entertainment system for a child in a local hospital.Clean-Up with Lincoln Park Conservancy Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool at 10AMWe'll be cleaning up leaves and fallen branches and sticks to get the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool ready for spring!Plan to use the bathroom ahead of time as those facilities are not readily accessible to non-staff.For all my hydro homies (which is all y'all - hydrate or diedrate okaaaay), bring a reusable water bottle if you have one! We're trying to limit our disposable bottle usage so that Mother Nature won't be all: Then join us for a socially-distanced picnic! East side of North Pond, behind the Nature Museum at 1PMYou can place lunch pre-orders with The Fat Shallot, which I'm told has arguably the best grilled cheese sandwich in Chicago.Pre-orders will be delivered to our afterparty picnic location and 10% of proceeds from orders will come back to Volunteering Untapped - so yaes that means we DO encourage you to porque no los dos on the apps AND zerts!BYO picnic gear (blankets, games, speakers) and whatever else you wanna snack or sip on. We’ll have a few small coolers available to keep things cold. And that's that on that! We'll see you there with your war face on! Note: Volunteering Untapped only condones war against decomposing organic matter and other such items specifically littered on or around the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool. Map Legend Red X = Outdoor Yoga Orange X = Lily Pool clean-up Blue X = After Party Picnic Or if you would prefer volunteering virtually, we've got that going on too! DIY Dog Toys with Anti-Cruelty Society Zoom at 10AM, link will be sent to registered attendeesEver wonder what you're going to do with all of your old t-shirts? Wonder no more! You can turn them as well as any other cotton clothing into dog toys! All you'll need are some old t-shirts and a pair of scissors. We'll show you the rest. Or if you wanna be all Hermione about it, you can teach yourself. All dog toys can be donated to the Anti-Cruelty Society or to an animal shelter closest to your home! About the Organizations: Lincoln Park Conservancy: Working with 1,214 acres of the most highly used park land in Chicago means Lincoln Park will always need of our assistance. We have privately funded projects of every size, from antiquated play lots to crumbling running paths, and leaking historic buildings to weed-infested gardens. We seek to fill the gap between government budget cuts and the needs of the peoples’ park, committing to the long-term care of restored park sites and protecting the financial and emotional investments of donors. Through our focused and expert efforts, we are successfully creating a better park one project at a time. Anti-Cruelty Society: The Anti-Cruelty Society believes that companion animals provide people with joy, offers recognized health benefits and unconditional love, and it is our goal to find a home for every companion animal in need. The Society offers a variety of programs and services to build a community of caring by helping pets and educating people. Questions? Send a note to Tom ([email protected]).
