Description

The Labor Community Alliance presents a Labor Forum, online via Zoom on April 29, 2021 at 7 pm. The topic addressed will be, “What Must Labor Unions Do to Fulfill Promises Made?” The purpose of the Forum is to discuss and listen to different perspectives of labor leaders in South Florida. While the National Labor Relations Board is now headed up by a Union member, there is still much work to be done, such as revitalizing the infrastructure of this nation to create millions of jobs, protecting workers’ rights, securing pension plans, and so forth. This Forum is an opportunity to learn from labor leaders what are the most pressing issues/concerns facing their memberships, and what follow up actions are needed. Panelists include: Karla Hernandez-Mats, President United Teachers of Dade, Richard Quinconces, Vice-President of South Florida AFL-CIO, Mark Schaunaman, President of South Florida Building & Trades Council, Nucleus Shelton, SEIU Healthcare, Phyllis Talley, President of AFSCME Local 1184 and Curtis Hierro, CWA Legislative Team. Must register in advance:
