Pet Portraits - great for memorials, gifts, or just because!

My name is Newt and I do pet portraits! These portraits are done on wooden boards with pastels. So, what are pastels? Well a lot of people who I mention this to think about the COLOR pastel - meaning a softer or lighter version of a color like pastel blue. Pastels however are also an art medium that is kind of like a cross between chalk and crayons. They are very finicky, expensive (for the good ones anyway), and a bit difficult to work with. Why do I use them? Well - I have discovered that pastels on wooden boards is a match made in heaven! You can just barely see the grain of the wood on the drawing and it adds interest, plus the pastels cling to wood really well. Art pieces are then sealed to prevent smudging and damage and can be displayed! This business idea started as a happy accident, and from there it has become more. I have worked now with several shelters and rescues by donating my art to them. They use this to draw attention to adoptable animals, raise attention for their cause, or the most common is to use these portraits as memorials for pets who have died in their care. Currently I have three slots available for April - which means your portrait will be done sometime in April but I will give you the date of when your slot is. I try my best to stick to these dates but if something comes up I will let you know. Also, if you live near me I am happy to hand deliver the finished product!
