MELROSE, MA — The following are excerpts from the Melrose police log for the week of March 22: Monday, March 22 12:01 p.m. — A Leonard Road home owner returned from the Cape to find their front door kicked in and home broken into. Tuesday, March 23 8:04 a.m. — Three vans at the high school had catalytic converters removed. Wednesday, March 24 8:51 a.m. — A car was broken into overnight on West Emerson Street. 9:39 a.m. — A car in the Wyoming Hill parking lot was vandalized overnight. Rocks were found in the car's gas tank. 5:58 p.m. — A unlocked car was entered overnight on Winthrop Street. Friday, March 26 5:51 p.m. — A 41-year-old New Jersey woman was issued a summons on a charge of violating a harassment prevention order. 8:08 p.m. — A 37-year-old Melrose man was taken into protective custody outside a Main Street restaurant. Saturday, March 27 12:01 a.m. — A bicyclist said he was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run on Sixth Street. 7:35 p.m. — A group of five or six kids around 12 years old were ringing doorbells and running away on Ellis Farm Lane. Police caught up with them. Sunday, March 28 10:20 a.m. — There was an altercation in Wyoming Cemetery. A report an hour later came in about an altercation with someone walking their dog at the cemetery. 9:47 p.m. — A report about a drunk female outside Pleasant Street apartments ringing door buzzers.
