Join us for the inaugural spring civil war ball!
We will have a caller who will briefly teach the steps to each dance, so previous skill is not necessary.
We will have several different types of dances, the more formal English country waltzes (hole in the wall, duke of kent) and the more lively dances (gei Gordon’s mixer, Virginia reel etc). Keep the lively reels in mind when you select your apparel.
Historical attire and gloves are encouraged but not required. Modest attire is required. Comfortable footwear is highly recommended.
Feel free to invite others who would love to join us for an evening of historical dancing!
Historical etiquette note: a lady is discouraged from refusing a gentleman unless she is sitting out the entire dance, she is not to refuse one man and accept another. A gentleman is discouraged from engaging the same lady for more than 2 consecutive dances.
Tickets are $5 per person(over age 7) to cover the cost of the venue, there is a $20 family cap though if you have more than 4 people, so just buy the 4 you need and contact us with your total number of attendees.
As this is an evening dance after dinner we will have hors d’oeuvres and encourage each family to bring a finger food or dessert to contribute. We will provide drinks and paper goods.
