Englewood Oath Keeper Seeks Release From Jail After Capitol Siege

ENGLEWOOD, FL — A 54-year-old Englewood man who stormed the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6 as part of the Florida chapter of the Oath Keepers, a far-right, anti-government militia organization, is seeking his release from jail, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported. Graydon Young was indicted for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol building riots in a group of nine Florida Oath Keepers. The group included his sister, Laura Steele. Young's defense attorney argued in court that he "had been duped by an organization he didn't fully understand," reports said. Young has been jailed since his arrest Feb. 15. His attorney, Robert Foley, filed a motion for his release, citing his "strong character" and noting that he's a "family man" who has never been jailed before, reports said. Like what you're reading? Young, who served in the U.S. Army Reserve and the U.S. Navy Reserve, has been charged with conspiring to commit an offense against the United States, obstruction of an official proceeding, destruction of government property, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, and tampering with documents or proceedings.
