PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The person who shot and killed a man in his Phoenixville home three months ago remains at large, and the murder remains under investigation. The shooting death of a 73-year-old man in his home on Dayton Street in Phoenixville last December has been under investigation as a homicide for almost three months, and the search for the murderer-at-large remains open. "The Phoenixville shooting is an open and active homicide investigation being investigated collaboratively by Phoenixville Borough Police and Chester County Detectives," the Chester County District Attorney's Office said today. Phoenixville Police detectives confirmed the homicide investigation remains open and active, and a Phoenixville detective told Patch no other information can be provided now because of the ongoing investigation. Police found Ira Solomon dead in his Phoenixville home at 401 Dayton St. on Dec. 29. Law enforcement at the time said they need help from the community. "If you reside in this area of town and have exterior video security cameras, please contact the police," Phoenixville police posted on Dec. 31. Three months later, no one has yet been arrested or charged in relation to Solomon's death. According to a report from the D.A.'s office, police found the victim in his home on Dec. 29 at 12:52 p.m. Friends of the victim who were there when police arrived said the back door had been unlocked, the D.A. reported at the time. Police found two 9mm spent shell casings in the kitchen, along with a miniature baseball bat near the victim's body, the report said. Detectives also recovered the victim's cell phone. Anyone with information should contact police at 610-933-1180 Ext. 815 or 816. Read an earlier story about the shooting here. Make sure you know what's happening in your town.
