Supervisor: Program Director Employment Status: Part-time Position summary: This is a part-time position reporting directly to the Program Director (PD). Adventure Academy Instructors (AAI) serve to ensure the delivery, quality, and safety of the full line of Apex Adventure Academy programming including: • Challenge course facilitation • MTB and road cycling • Rock climbing and bouldering • Wilderness skills I. Shelter building II. Backcountry Navigation (map & compass) III. Ten Essentials IV. Sourcing and treating water V. Time-Control Plans (TCPs) VI. Backcountry cooking and menu planning VII. Wilderness Emergency Medicine VIII. Leave No Trace skills Adventure Academy core programs for 5th – 12th grade students are offered Monday – Friday during summer vacation. Our fee-for-service Outdoor School classes for adults and kids aged 13+ will be offered on Saturdays and Tuesday and Thursday evenings year-round. Successful candidates will have multi-disciplinary competence and be available to work some nights and weekends. Candidates must pass a criminal history background check. The training and assessment dates for which all candidates are required to attend are May 29 and 30, and June 5 and 6. Candidates for whom driving a 12-passenger van is a function of the position to which they are applying will be required to attend van / trailer driver training on May 28th. The training is unpaid.
