Ever Wonder What It's Like Being an Actor? Matthew Davis Shares Some InsightIf you don't work in the entertainment industry, the world leaves much to the imagination. It's a career path that isn't attainable for everyone, so there's a lot of glamour and mystery attached to what being an actor and actress is really like. What's it like working on a film set? What's it like playing someone you aren't? People want to know. And I don't blame them. This is why interviews of celebrities who've appeared in films or on television are so popular — we all want to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into what it's like to live that lifestyle. Actors and actresses are frequently asked what they've learned from being on camera in various roles — like Matthew Davis, for example. For fans of CW's fantasy drama, The Vampire Diaries, Matthew Davis is already a familiar name. He is known for his role as Alaric Saltzman, a human vampire hunter who worked as a history teacher at Mystic Falls High School up until the show ended in 2017. Davis has conducted many interviews about his time on set, and has appeared at numerous Comic-Cons, both nationally and internationally. At the 2017 Oz Comic Con Sydney, Matthew Davis was interviewed about his time with The Vampire Diaries. You can watch the full clip here, but below are two questions Davis was asked, and a recap of his answers: Q: Now that The Vampire Diaries is finished, what are you going to miss most about working on the show? Matthew Davis stated that his friends would be what he missed most about working on the show. He loved the camaraderie and the spirit of having gone through all the trials and tribulations together. "You forge a special bond when you go through that experience," says Davis. "This is hard to recreate." Q: What's been the most revolutionary thing you learned while working on the show? Davis' response was that he learned so much about adaptability on set. Directors change for every episode, as does the schedule, so everything is constantly in motion. "How can you maintain your artistic point of view and your own integrity without adapting to all the other point-of-views that go into shaping the show?" said Davis. For lovers of the show, you know that 2017 wasn't the end of Alaric Saltzman, or Matthew Davis. In 2018, Legacies, a spin-off show, was created, and Davis got to continue working on set. In 2019, they aired their second season, and Davis had a chance to sit down and chat with costar, Danielle Rose, at the San Diego Comic-Con that same year. The full interview is available on YouTube, but you get to hear Matthew Davis talk about the surreal experience of what it's like to play a character for as long as he has and go through all the generations of episodes. He says it's been nothing but a blessing that he continually pinches himself over.To learn more about Matthew Davis, you can follow along on his press page. Click here.
