The workshop is offered four times. Attend only once.
Participants are welcome to stay late for lunch, noon-1:00.
This three-hour workshop for K-3 teachers addresses length, mass, and other measurable attributes using both standard and non-standard units. Participants receive rulers, mass sets, play money, and other manipulatives to use with their students. Dr. Amanda Niedzialomski will lead the workshop. She has a Ph.D. in mathematics and two toddlers, so she has some thoughts about mathematics with little ones. The workshop includes ideas and/or equipment related to Tennessee mathematics standards K.MD.A.1, K.MD.A.2, K.MD.B.3, 1.MD.A.1, 1.MD.A.2, 1.MD.B.4, 2.MD.A.1, 2.MD.A.2, 2.MD.A.4, 2.MD.C.A, 3.MD.A.1b, and 3.MD.A.2. (reference is to the new standards approved February 2021, but the topics are essentially the same as the current standards)
