MAPLE GROVE, MN — The three-year construction project involving Interstate 94 in Maple Grove is nearly complete. The final closure will end on April 1. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is constructing improvements and upgrades on a 39-mile stretch of the interstate, stretching from Maple Grove to Clearwater. Improvements include adding bridges, lanes, drainage, an interchange, and resurfacing old pavement. "When complete, motorists will experience improved safety, a smoother road surface, better commercial access for freight and business, and less vehicle congestion," promises MnDOT. Here are the closures Maple Grove residents should know about: Jan. 20 — March 31 EB I-94 is reduced to two lanes between Hwy 101 and Weaver Lake Rd. March 24 — March 26 WB I-94 is reduced to two lanes between the I-94/494/694 interchange and Hwy 101 March 25 — April 1 EB I-94 is reduced to two lanes between Hwy 101 and Hwy 610 March 28 — March 29 EB I-94 is reduced to a single lane between Hwy 241 and the Hwy 101 bridge over I-94 March 26 EB I-94 is reduced to two lanes between Hwy 610 and Weaver Lake Rd. Monticello to Clearwater I-94 will be reduced to a single lane in both directions between Highway 25 and Highway 24 from March 28 through May. Learn more about the project here.
