BEVERLY HILLS, CA — A Saturday car crash on Sunset Boulevard between Rexford and Crescent drives caused a power outage affecting North Beverly Hills, according to Beverly Hills police.
The crash occurred on Saturday at around 7:40 p.m. on Sunset Boulevard, just east of North Crescent Drive, according to Beverly Hills police. A blue Hyundai Elantra hit a utility light pole, causing a power outage, causing an outage that affected 232 customers in the area north of Santa Monica Boulevard, between Beverly and Canon drives.
The outage began at 7:49 p.m. Saturday, according to SCE spokesperson David Song, who confirmed it was caused by a car crash. SCE crews arrived to restore restring damaged power lines, and 155 people had their power restored by 8:40. The remaining 77 customers had their power restored by 3 a.m. Sunday, Song said.
After the crash, the Elantra was towed away, and the driver, described as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, according to BHPD Sgt. Brian Balleweg. No injuries were reported.
