TEMPE, AZ — The city of Tempe is seeking comments on its parks and recreation master plan for the next three decades of development. The master plan, which was unveiled on March 16, lays out a blueprint for the city's parks and recreation facilities through 2050. The plan states that Tempe is forecast to grow by 25,100 people between 2020 and 2030, with an additional 29,900 people moving to the city by 2040. The city's blueprint lays out whether there is a surplus or a deficit in the number of facilities for a given sport or activity, compared to the projected increase in population over the next three decades. The plan also lays out how much each project would cost, factoring in inflation and assorted design, engineering, testing and other fees that might cause price increases going forward. Anyone that would like to voice their opinion on the future of Tempe's parks and recreation facilities can do so here, with responses being accepted until 11:59 p.m. on April 5. So far, 109 responses have been filed on the master plan, according to the site. Once the public input portion of the draft master plan process is complete, the city will post an outcome on how it will proceed with the parks and recreation master plan.
