Solar Installation | Lead Technician JOB SUMMARY: The lead technician works both independently and effectively with a crew. Tasks include, but are not limited to, surveying residential & commercial locations for new installations. Survey completed installations for quality and to document necessary corrections. Perform service work and inspections on completed installations. Additionally, the lead would work alongside crew members in installations, warehouse needs, material delivery and other related tasks. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: · Manage the on-site Solar crew. · Travel to locations to measure, photograph & document the installation site, condition, obstructions/structures and other pertinent information prior to installing. Measure & document structural information for roof-mount systems. · Coordinate & schedule with customers to maximize effectiveness/minimize travel time. · Be available to work in all reasonable weather conditions in all seasons to perform job functions. · Provide friendly & professional service to customers at all times. · Perform post-installation documentation & take the required photos. Test systems & connections. · Be prepared for extended stays & overnight travel, if required. · Install photovoltaic (PV) systems & assemble solar modules, panels, and support structures. · Check electrical installation for proper wiring, polarity & grounding. · Identify and resolve any deficiencies in PV system installation or materials. · Program, adjust, or configure inverters and controls for desired set points and operating modes. · Identify installation locations with proper orientation, area, solar access, & structural integrity for new installs. · Perform routine system maintenance and be prepared to deploy for service calls. · Activate PV systems to verify functionality and conformity to performance expectations. Troubleshoot causes of non-functioning systems. · Complete job-related paperwork and submit in an orderly timely manner to appropriate individuals. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each job function satisfactorily. * General construction and roofing experience preferred. * Basic electrical knowledge required. General understanding/experience with electrical wiring of AC & DC preferred. * Must maintain a valid driver’s license and relatively clean driving record. Must have the ability to be insured to drive a company vehicle. * High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required, and 1-2 years of additional education or experience. * Good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. * Comfortable working in high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions. Must be able to comfortably work on roofs. * Experienced with measurement tools, power & hand tools, ladders and mechanical lifts, smartphone * Able to lift 50-70 pounds frequently throughout the day.
