Day Porter Public Works Department HP#2021-44 Pay Salary Range: $34,798 - $45,791 annually Starting salary is $34,798 - $42,337 - depending upon qualifications Full-time, non-exempt position plus full benefits package. The City of Hillsboro is looking for a highly motivated and detail oriented person to join the Facilities team as a Day Porter. At the City of Hillsboro, Day Porters perform an essential role to facility cleanliness and the health and safety of our employees and community members. Job duties will include, sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, taking out the trash and recycling, as well as bathroom and kitchen cleaning. Essential Responsibilities In this position you will perform day porter duties which includes janitorial tasks, set up and tear down furnishings after events, and respond to building needs in a timely and effective manner. The Day Porter is also responsible for ensuring COVID 19 cleaning protocols are completed thoroughly and to CDC and City standards. The ideal candidate should be flexible and willing to complete tasks as assigned. Daily assignments include: • Keeping glass doors, windows, and fixtures free of smudges and fingerprints • Ensuring parking lots/walk ways are clean. Walking City facilities daily to pick/sweep up debris • Maintaining public restrooms: stocking all supplies, picking up larger paper debris, wiping down counters, and maintaining a clean appearance • Assisting staff with special requests by staff i.e. help with events, meetings, set ups, tear downs, etc. Involves moving tables/chairs • Complying with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards • Responding to business management needs in a timely and effective manner. The day porter must be flexible and willing to complete tasks as assigned. General Statement of Duties The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform basic janitorial duties and provide customer service for liaisons of assigned buildings or facilities during operational hours. Responsibilities may include providing some customer service; monitoring facilities for cleanliness, sanitation and safety; performing routine cleaning of buildings and facilities. Acceptable Experience and Training High School Diploma or GED and two years janitorial experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
