Maintenance Worker I – Water Customer Service Water Division Public Works Department Application deadline: Friday, April 16, 2021 Visit www.icgov.org/jobs to apply online One permanent full time position available Full salary range: $40,393.60 - $51,833.60 Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm Job summary: Under immediate direction, reads meters, performs water taps and related water maintenance distribution and service work including inspection and maintenance of meters, works with contractors to repair water systems and locate service lines and mains. Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Three months experience in water system maintenance or in a related field required. Must live within 17 miles of the corporate limits of Iowa City, Iowa within one year of appointment to the position. Valid Iowa Class B commercial driver’s license with air brake and tanker endorsements required within 90 days of hire. Valid Iowa Class A commercial driver’s license with air brake and tank endorsements required within 6 months of hire. Iowa DNR Grade I Water Distribution Certification required within 3 years of appointment to this position. This position is subject to federal drug testing requirements including screening through the FMCSA Clearinghouse. A pre-employment drug test required. Must be 18 years of age per Iowa Code 92.8. Must pass criminal background check. Preferred qualifications: One year of college or technical school from an educational institution accredited by a DOE recognized accreditation body and twelve months experience in water system maintenance or in a related field preferred. Iowa DNR Grade I Water Distribution Certification preferred.
