Trout Lily Forestry Services is hiring for summer 2021! This position would begin in early June and conclude in mid-October, with the possibility of year round employment for someone who has demonstrated interest and the capability to work year round in Northern Vermont forests. Work would begin with studying for and passing two exams to give you a Vermont Pesticide Applicators License (time and materials paid for). This exam is pretty easy but does take some time to study for. Don't be intimidated! From there, work would primarily entail applying herbicide in a safe and controlled manner to non-native, invasive plants on private and public land throughout Northern and Central Vermont, primarily in Chittenden, Franklin, Grand Isle, and Lamoille Counties. Work would be in small groups or by yourself. You should be -Capable of walking and hiking through fields and forests while carrying heavy loads for a full work day -Comfortable working in variable weather conditions -Comfortable mixing and applying herbicide while following all regulations and taking stringent safety precautions -Committed to learning, developing skills, and receiving/offering feedback -Have reliable transportation and willingness to commute or carpool to various job sites across Northern and Central Vermont (if you live close to other team members carpooling will be an option if you don’t have reliable transportation) Please checkout the full job posting here and read thoroughly before applying.
