Sunday morning P.D.T. 28 March 2021:
Just found a cat obviously hit and killed by traffic. The body was already stiff at 11:30 am-ish, so perhaps he/she was struck late last night Saturday March 27 2021 or early Sunday?
VERY LARGE white/grey tabby cat. Bushy tailed, very full fur, not short-haired. No ID collar.
Driving by this morning 11:30 ish, I noticed the poor creature in the right lane. I pulled over, then moved the body from the street to the sidewalk atop a PG&E(?) cover. This is South San Francisco, Gellert Blvd. southbound lane, in the direction of McDonald’s and Safeway (Pak‘N’Sav), adjacent to the overpriced yuppie condos, across the street from the shopping strip mall, including Orchard Supply Hardware OSH, currently being torn down. This part of Gellert Blvd. is on the steep hill, closer to King Drive, and not the lower, leveled portion closer to the entrance of Safeway.
If you lost a cat missing this description, please check this location now. Hurry – the city DPW or a garbage collector will not report it or hand the body to Animal Control. They'll just dispose of him.
Feral, outdoors cats are streetwise and know how to cross the street safely. So I’m afraid this fallen one may have been someone’s home companion who got loose.
