Man, 19, Faces Murder Charge In Port Jefferson Shooting: Police

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Joseph Garcia, 19, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested on Saturday in connection with a fatal shooting in Port Jefferson on Wednesday, Suffolk police said. Garcia was charged with second-degree murder. Garcia shot and killed David Bliss Jr., 25, of Shirley, around 3:35 p.m. Wednesday in front of 122 Main St., police said. Bliss Jr. was found on the ground with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, police said. Garcia will be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday. Police are still investigating.
