Description
I have a bunch of ramshorn snails that I would like to rehome. They are wild colored, in normal and leopard patterns and have either purple/blue bodies or pink bodies. These are big, healthy individuals. I am asking $0.25/ea or 10 for $2.
Ramshorn snails are voracious algae eaters and are plant-safe provided they have enough food. However, if your tank is completely clean of algae, you will need to provide algae tablets for them as (like with any herbivorous snail) they will eat what they can if they are starving, including plants. They should have access to a source of calcium for their shells; often hard water will do, but giving them some cuttlebone, limestone (like texas holey stone), adding calcium carbonate to the water, eggshells (washed and baked beforehand), or feeding them pellets formulated for shrimps (which should contain things for building shells) are all appropriate. They will also clean up any detritus (dead plant matter), fish carcasses, or excess food on the bottom your fish miss really fast. It is recommended to keep 1 per 5 gallons of water for clean up.
They also make good feeders for larger carnivores life puffer fish and omnivores like crayfish. Big crayfish love them!
These ones may carry the genes for red or blue shells, as they were in a mixed population tank before I decided to remove the wild colored ones. You may see red shelled or blue shelled individuals pop up when your snails breed.
The last photo is a picture of the aquarium the live animals are currently in; it is nfs, just there so you can see where they're coming from.
