MIDDLETOWN, CT — The Middletown Board of Education recently voted to discontinue offering French at the middle school level. Officials cited a consistent decline in enrollment over the past five years. "As a result, French will no longer be offered at the middle school level effective for the 2021-2022 school year," reads a joint message from Woodrow Wilson Middle School Principal Cheryl D. Gonzalez and Andrés Alphonso Mohammed, MPS World Languages Department Chair, to families. "Despite this discontinuation at the middle school, students may continue to explore French at Middletown High School, as it will continue to be offered there at a variety of levels (French I - Advanced Placement)."
