TRAIL joined the Business Partnership because they value being connected to the larger economy and community. TRAIL stands for Tools and Resources for Independent Living and aims to help aging adults stay in their home. Their mission is to enable people to live independently, comfortably, and enjoyably in the place they call home. TRAIL was founded half a decade ago by a group of retirees. They discovered they all shared a common goal of staying in their homes, instead of moving to more traditional senior-living facilities. The group decided to start a village-to-village network; this network focuses on helping communities establish their own "villages" within their larger community. TRAIL is the first aging-in-place village in Johnson County. Through a TRAIL membership, members can receive volunteer assistance, have access to pre-screened service providers, and attend educational and social events. Two levels of membership are offered, in order to fit everyone's needs. There is also the opportunity to volunteer with TRAIL. Much like the membership, TRAIL works with every volunteer in order to fit their needs. There are a range of volunteer opportunities to take advantage of.
