Description

Press release from the City of Ames: March 26, 2021 Homewood Golf Course, a public nine-hole course located at 20th Street and Duff Avenue, will open Thursday, April 1, weather permitting. Due to delays in the slope stabilization project, Holes 3 and 4 will be temporarily closed. Seven holes will be open for a reduced green fee. A temporary fence will be installed around the construction site. RW Excavating Solutions Inc. is excavating and removing material from the slope to mitigate severe and continuing erosion east of Homewood's Hole No. 4. The erosion is threatening part of the golf course, an adjacent segment of the Skunk River Trail, and a section of a sanitary sewer line. For the next few weeks, trucks will be entering and leaving the construction site via the east Inis Grove parking lot. Closing the two holes helps ensure the safety of patrons. Once the slope stabilization work is completed, Holes 3 and 4 will be reopened for play. Additionally, the new clubhouse is anticipated to open in mid-April. Golfers should call 515.239.5363 to check-in or reserve their tee time. Tee times can also be made online at www.amesparkrec.org. Due to their need for electricity, golf carts won't be available to rent until the new clubhouse is open. Additional rules and expectations for safe, social distancing practices to protect golfers and staff are in place and posted on the Department's homepage and at the golf course.
