Do you have an old cell phone cluttering a drawer somewhere?
I'm gathering old phones to ship to a good friend in Tanzania. The first small pilot test shipment is going to go soon, with whatever I have collected.
With the help of his IT friend, the phones will be retrofitted there with appropriate SIMS card and electric adapters and put up for local sale.
Buying new phones is well out of range of most local buyers. Used phones of older age are long dead before becoming available for resale, so demand is expected to be good.
The profits will be used to fund a village chicken project and support local education. The project will be self-sustaining, a portion of profits from first sales set aside to pay shipping costs of future phone collections.My friend's livelihood guiding travelers to local sites near his home village, as well as much of the local economy has been devastated by Covid. A chicken project has been started, and it's slowly growing, but these additional funds will help it advance so much faster to help so many more.
What's not of value here, can be life-changing there. Hope you can help. I'm willing to drive to pick up phones anywhere near Concord..please check you stashes of old tech stuff and contact me!
