Is there a bird rescue organization around here? I might be looking for a parakeet. I don't know anything about birds. If I got one, I would prefer to rescue it. My friends mother had 2 parakeets and now there is only one. She's an elderly woman, home all day to give him company but I am wondering if he's still lonely. He has a fake plastic parakeet he pokes at and he 'interacts' with his mirror. He pays attention to the outside birds. I feel sorry for him if he would benefit from having a bird companion. If he needs a friend do I get another male or a female? Do the males keep going after the female? Oh and what size cage would we need? Would that need to be up-sized too? He's just in a regular sized one right now.
