Celebrate the inaugural class from the WMU Richmond Institute for Design + Innovation with MIX Southwest Michigan First. MIX invites you to celebrate the inaugural class of students graduating from the Richmond Institute for Design + Innovation (RIDI) at Western Michigan University(WMU)! Join the creative community for an outdoor, socially-distanced open house near the fountain behind the WMU Miller Auditorium on April 29 at 4:00 pm. Students from the RIDI senior cohort will be on hand to show off their projects and discuss their experience with the program. This will be an awesome opportunity to see how the innovative RIDI curriculum prepares emerging design leaders by taking the concepts of design and innovation to a whole new level. Created in the fall of 2016, the program brings together entrepreneurship, engineering, and fine arts coursework to train future generations of product designers interested in innovating specific products and global systems. Read more about the transdisciplinary approach preparing graduates to lead in the field of industrial design. Following the open house, attendees and students are invited to a meet-up for drinks and networking. More information will be provided at the main event. Parking will be available in the Miller Parking Structure. Signage will direct you to the fountain area. We ask that all guests abide by the social distancing guidelines set by the CDC and the recommended MDHHS Epidemic Orders. Please bring a mask to the Connect and plan to maintain six feet of distance between yourself and other attendees whenever you are not wearing a mask, including while eating. If you have had a fever, cough, diarrhea, sore throat or shortness of breath, or have come in contact with someone who has COVID-19 in the last 14 days, please do not attend the event.
