If you've seen the news, you know the museum may close at the end of June. There are two efforts to stop this- a petition for Nike's Phil Knight Foundation and a second is a funding campaign I have started. This closure means the loss of about 50 good jobs for Oregonians, a school closure which will displace elementary school children, and the cultural and educational loss of the museum itself. What an incredible loss- let's try to stop it, which we might be able to do together. We're at the end of the pandemic and there is hope that we can return to visiting it, if we can get past this last hurdle.
Please get involved somehow. Write our local lawmakers and appeal to other funding sources (you may wish to pull the museum's annual reports with donors listed for ideas, available on their website)
The petition can be found by using Google to search "Save the Portland Children's Museum" and I can share a link to the funding campaign, if you email me (donations are set up to go directly to the museum).
You can reply to this email if you are interested in organizing and getting more involved, including donating.
