Press release from Town of Milton: March 25, 2021 The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has opened a public comment period for the revised Flood Insurance Rate Map and Flood Insurance Study report for Norfolk County. The proposed flood hazard determinations, if finalized, will become the federal standard for floodplain management measures. Communities must meet this standard in order to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program. To view the FEMA reports, visit the FEMA Flood Map website. FEMA has provided the Town and citizens an opportunity to comment on the report and appeal the proposed flood hazard information. FEMA will only consider appeals of the proposed flood hazard determinations if such appeals are supported by scientific or technical data. FEMA will also consider comments and inquiries regarding data other than the proposed flood hazard determinations (e.g., typographical errors, omissions). The deadline to comment or appeal is April 19, 2021.
