Description

ARLINGTON, MA — MassDOT will begin installing new milepost-based exit signs on Route 2 between Arlington and West Orange on Sunday, March 28. Work will take place nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for approximately three weeks. Ongoing sign installation work on I-95 is expected to take about 10 weeks and has been broken up into four construction segments: Interstate 95 between the New Hampshire border and Route 128 (completed) Interstate 95 between the Route 1 interchange and Route 20 (completed) Interstate 95 between the Interstate 90 interchange and Westwood and Canton Interstate 95 between Neponset Street and the Rhode Island border The Exit Renumbering Project is converting all exit numbers on roadways per Federal Highway Administration requirements. Interstates and major roadways in Massachusetts previously utilized a sequential exit numbering method – 1, 2, 3, 4 – as opposed to a milepost-based method – 3, 5, 11 and so on. "Old Exit" signs will be installed at key locations for a minimum of two years as drivers get used to the new system.
