A rare, intimate performance by famed jazz musicians Geoff Clapp, Charlie Hunter and Sam Fribush
Join us for an intimate evening of jazz music featuring drummer Geoff Clapp, guitarist Charlie Hunter and pianist Sam Fribush in the new outdoor music space of a renovated 1951 Lustron mid century historic home turned art gallery/bar in downtown Pittsboro.
With a career spanning 16 years and almost 20 albums, Charlie Hunter consistently ups his game as an innovative writer and bandleader. He has worked with the likes of Norah Jones, Mos Def, John Mayer, D’Angelo and countless others. He is widely considered the authority on the seven and eight-string guitar, and continues to stun audiences with his ability to simultaneously bust out tasty bass parts, melodic leads and swinging rhythms.
Geoff Clapp has been performing, touring and recording as a drummer since the age of 12. Geoff has played with Peter Martin, Wynton Marsalis, Ellis Marsalis Trio/Quartet, Jason Marsalis Quartet (Jason on Vibes), Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Nicholas Payton, Mark Turner, Kermit Ruffins, Charlie Hunter Trio/Quintet, Christian McBride, Reuben Rogers, Robert Glasper, and Dianne Reeves to name a few.
Sam Fribush graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston in 2017. Heavily influenced by his dad Paul “Doc” Fribush's New Orleans jazz and Appalachian/hokum leanings, Sam has been playing the piano and organ from the age of 10 and got inspiration from other NOLA musicians as well, including steel pan guru Tracy Thornton and Sam Frazier. The new double album "The Sam Fribush Organ Trio" featuring Charlie and Geoff, mines classic funk, R&B, soul and whatever else no one else wants to play with them — instrumental, sparse, with a groove and a backbeat.
