DARIEN, CT — Darien High School was on a remote learning schedule Thursday due to a flare up of coronavirus cases, which has prompted the school district to consider hosting a vaccination clinic for interested high school students next month, writes the Stamford Advocate.
Connecticut residents 16 years old and up will be eligible for vaccination on April 5, and state health officials reportedly are encouraging communities to consider taking such a step.
Currently, 165 members of the Darien School District community are under coronavirus quarantine, with 13 of those people testing positive for the virus, according to school officials. The infections and quarantines are spread out over eight Darien schools.
Darien has not yet approved such a measure, but local school administrators and health officials are looking into such an effort, which has also gained support from First Selectman Jayme Stevenson and Health Director David Knauf, according to the publication.
