2 Darien Properties Win Landscaping Excellence Awards

Press release from Hoffman Landscapes Inc.: March 26, 2021 Two Darien homeowners recently learned that their properties, both designed by Hoffman Landscapes landscape architect Matthew Biron, were selected to receive Award of Excellence – Gold Awards by the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP). One of the two properties additionally won a Design Innovator Award bestowed by Serendipity Magazine. "We absolutely love our pool and pool house set-up," said Jolene Sutter of her new dual-award winning property. "Our family is out enjoying the space throughout the entire year, whether it's a hot day in the summer to swim, a cool evening grilling and eating out by the outdoor fireplace or watching sports from the hot tub! It's truly a dream come true for our family." Biron and his team worked closely with building architect Kathleen Poirier Architects, LLC and builder Jim Hines of Westport Modular Homes to tie together all aspects of the project which includes a custom pool and spa with waterfall feature, pool house, outdoor kitchen and shower, patio for sunning and dining, as well as an outdoor game room and fireplace. "I am honored to have this project recognized," stated Biron. "As a busy family of six, our clients wanted a space to enjoy quality time together and entertain guests. I'm so glad we were able to provide just that!" The second NALP Award of Excellence – Gold Award-winning project was truly a labor of love for the homeowner who was very involved in the design aspect of the project, working closely with Biron through many revisions until it was exactly what they wanted. "This is so exciting," said homeowner Mandi Morgan upon hearing about the award. "We worked tirelessly with Matt and the team at Hoffman to get this just right." The final product features a large patio with a custom sunken spa overlooking the water, outdoor kitchen and dining area, fire pit, as well as a lower patio with a second fire feature, outdoor shower, and built-in kayak storage. "It's always great to work with clients who know exactly what they are looking for, even if that does set the bar higher to meet their expectations," Biron said. "This award is not only an acknowledgement of the work myself and our team at Hoffman accomplished, but for our relationship with the Morgans and their input as well." Each year, the NALP Awards of Excellence recognizes exceptional landscape and lawn care projects from around the nation. This year, 110 awards were bestowed for maintenance, design/build or contracting projects.
