POINT PLEASANT BEACH – Point Pleasant Beach police plan to institute community policing patrols in 2021. These officers will engage with visitors and build relationships with residents and businesses while walking through Point Pleasant Beach neighborhoods, Chief Joseph Michigan said. The purpose of this program is to have an increased visual police presence in order to deter and reduce disorderly behavior as well as low-level and serious crime, the chief said. These patrols will mainly take place during the summer months. "We are committed to keeping Point Pleasant Beach a quiet and safe community for all of our residents and visitors," he said. Point Pleasant Beach had to deal with several incidents last year that drew police attention and prompted calls for increased police patrols.
