Description

Be a light in the darkness! Join our 5 mile pilgrimage in solidarity with migrants around the world on Saturday, May 8th. Join the Marist School chapter of Share the Journey, a club seeking to be in solidarity with migrants and refugees, on a pilgrimage from Saint Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur, Georgia to Refuge Coffee in Clarkston, Georgia on Saturday, May 8, 2021. The five mile walk seeks to raise awareness about the journey that migrants undertake, while at the same time offering a prayer for those making that difficult journey. By walking publicly with signs and banners, the group aims to highlight the global migration crisis facing today’s world and bear public witness to solidarity with and for migrants. COVID-19 Safety: Participants will be outdoors and are expected to remain masked for the entirety of the event, except for bathroom breaks and when eating. The majority of the route for the Pilgrimage will be along the Stone Mountain trail, which allows safe distance from traffic. Additionally, we will maintain distance and avoid clumping while walking. This will double as a safety measure when it comes to traffic as well. When food is served, it will be served by designated chaperones who will wear gloves and masked. Participants will be sufficiently spaced apart when eating. Finally, all Marist School protocols will be in place. All participants will have to answer the screening questions and have their temperature taken upon arrival at St. Thomas More. Non-Marist participants must sign a waiver.
