Description
SAN RAFAEL, CA — San Rafael's City Council on Thursday held its first-ever meeting in Spanish.
The council's decision to hold its COVID-19 Town Hall in Spanish followed the city's transition to holding elections by district instead of holding at-large council elections.
The council held its first district election in November.
The Town Hall was for the city's predominantly Latino District I, which includes the Canal and Lincoln Avenue neighborhoods.
The virtual meeting included a link with a translation to English.
District 1 councilmember Maika Llorens Gulati hosted the meeting, which featured Marin County Deputy Public Health Officer Dr. Lisa Santora and Lorenzo Cordova, a senior aide to Marin County Supervisor Dennis Rodoni as guests.
All three fielded questions from the public during the meeting.
