Description
LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Public Library's new Library of Things allows patrons to check out more than books. The Library of Things offers entertainment, lifestyle, technology and science items for check-out with your library card.
"The library is evolving into something more than just a place for books," Shannon Kazmierczak, Partnership and Programming Librarian, told Patch.
"Having access to items and trying to break down that barrier [for patrons] is part of our role," she added.
The Library of Things has a mobile hotspot, a Roku device loaded with movies, STEM and STEAM kits, a ring light, a pasta maker, various cake pans, a microscope, and plenty more. Items have various lengths of check-out time, but are all free to use.
"We're growing our collection constantly, it's in the beginning stages," Kazmierczak said.
The library is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
