Tire Sale - Philadelphia, PA - A Cool Place to Go Tire Shop Philadelphia is located in the heart of West Philadelphia. The location is a landmark that has been a part of history for over one hundred years and is still going strong. In the year eighteen seventy, the TiVo Company purchased the property for use as a tire shop. As you can imagine, this meant that it would have to be repaired on a fairly frequent basis. The history of the building can be traced back to the opening of the first General Store on the corner of Market Street and Broad Street in 18 49. When looking at the current location, I am glad that all those old trees were trimmed down. It is like finding a giant tree sitting in your street. The brick pavement is worn with age, yet, despite the wear and tear, the brick has an artistic appearance that adds character to the tire shop atmosphere. When I first entered the front of the building, the first thing I noticed was the grand staircase that led me to the second floor. Looking up the stairs was a great way to admire the many large windows that lead to an upstairs area that houses the tire shop. There are also a couple of smaller rooms that are carpeted with beautiful designs. If you have ever seen a tire shop before, then you can probably picture the arrangement of the rooms and think of what it must look like. The second thing that struck me when I visited the tire shop was the smell of fresh air. No odor of tires would ever be so inviting. Upon entering the main section of the location, a couple of workers were cleaning the floors while another couple was setting up a few large and old metal cages for tire mounts. It sounds like a scene out of a giant movie, yet, the setup of these cages actually looks very nice. The third and last thing that struck me as being cool was the actual sound of the place. As soon as I walked in, I immediately heard the sound of a huge air compressors. Apparently, this is a common place in Pennsylvania where people listen to music while they're working (I had been there for about an hour). Anyway, I'm always a fan of good sound. Seeing the tires being mounted on these metal cages reminded me of a lot of places I have stayed while visiting Pennsylvania, like Amish communities and Lackawood. All in all, I had a great time at the Tire Sale Philadelphia location. Like other locations around the country, it's located in a really nice part of town, in a really nice neighborhood, and it has some fantastic sound. Like many of the other places I've been, it's always nice to come home and feel like I've left the city at least somewhat impressed. And now that I have the pictures, I really can't wait to go back and visit more Tire Sale Philadelphia locations!
