DUBLIN, CA — A candlelight vigil in tribute to the life of Catherine Kuo will be held Sunday. The memorial for Kuo will be held 7 p.m. Sunday at Emerald Glen Park in Dublin. There will be speeches from a pastor, Kuo's sister, a family friend and Dublin Unified School District board president Dan Cherrier. Guests may also offer comments and place a flower into a basket in her honor, organizers said. People may bring a candle and lighter, battery-powered candle or a smartphone candle app in case of wind. Guests may bring posters or restaurant gift cards for Kuo's family. Kuo, 48, was a wife and mother of two who called Dublin home for more than two decades. As a Dublin Unified School District trustee, she sought to create better opportunities for local youth, particularly girls and minority students, according to her bio. She was remembered as a woman of faith, and role model for Asian American and Pacific Islander students who worked tirelessly to serve her community and family.
