BATAVIA, IL — A Chicago man was sentenced Wednesday to serve 10 years in prison after he admitted to selling fentanyl-laced heroin that killed a Batavia man, according to Kane County prosecutors. Alejandro Junco, 30, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of drug-induced homicide in connection with 20-year-old Daniel Mate's overdose death in May 2018, prosecutors said. Man Dies Days After Being Hit By SUV While Skateboarding: Coroner An autopsy showed Mate died of heroin/fentanyl intoxication, and cell phone records showed Junco agreed to sell heroin to Mate, prosecutors said in a news release. Junco must serve at least 75 percent of his 10-year sentence. He will receive credit for serving more than 600 days in the Kane County jail between his arrest and his sentencing, the release states.
