Press release from the City of Carlsbad: March 25, 2021 Celebrate Earth Month Carlsbad residents are invited to join the city in celebrating Earth Month in April with events and activities designed to help you reduce your impact on the environment and live more sustainably. Due to COVID-19, several of these events will be virtual via Zoom. Schedule of Events Shred and Recycle It! April 3 Registration is open through April 1. Location and time provided upon registration. Shred and recycle sensitive documents in an environmentally responsible way for free. Advanced registration, proof of residency and face coverings are required. E-Waste Drop-Off April 3, 10, 17, 24, 8 a.m. - noon and 12:40 - 4 p.m. Help divert waste away from the landfill by properly disposing of electronic waste that could be reused, refurbished or recycled. Free with proof of residency. Waste Management Buyback Center, 5815 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92008 Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off April 3, 10, 17, 24, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Drop off household hazardous waste including old motor oil, paint, chemicals, batteries, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, fluorescent bulbs and electronics for free with proof of residency. Learn practical tips on how reduce disposable waste and make sustainable choices a part of your everyday life. Virtual Composting Workshop April 17, 10 a.m. – noon Register Join ReEarth Consultants and the city to learn about all the ins and outs of home composting such as what system is best for you, how to manage it successfully and how to use the resulting compost. Come ready to interact and ask questions. Virtual Lunch & Learns Grab your lunch and join the city's Environmental Management Department staff on Zoom for a week-long series to learn about citywide sustainability initiatives.
