The job description and qualifications are as follows: The Youth Care Worker is responsible for all direct care to adolescents ages 13-17. They provide continuous line-of-sight supervision at all times to their assigned unaccompanied children (UCs). They ensure quality care of all UCs and follow all Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) policies. Key Requirements: Bilingual in Spanish & English Minimum age of 21 years or older Clean criminal background check Must complete a urine drug screen Experience with children in child welfare or social service setting (Preferred) Must live local to the El Paso, Texas area No housing or relocation fees or services provided Principle Accountabilities: Provides direct supervision of children in care, and maintain line-of- sight at all times Provides oversight during recreation, mealtime, relaxing time, and play activities Assists during transition and movement of children from one activity to the next and from one physical location to another Interacts with children in an appropriate manner, including playing games or during recreational time Ensures that all ORR policies and procedures are adhered Ensures quality care for all UC residents and timely response to UCs needs Provides reports to supervisory and management personnel Attends appropriate internal and external meetings Ensures all databases are properly maintained and includes quality data Other duties as assigned Other Duties: Performs duties in a safe manner Follows the corporate safety policy Participates and supports safety meetings, training, and goals Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility Encourages co-workers to work safely Identifies close calls and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel Maintains a clean and orderly work area Performs other duties as assigned within your scope of work and responsibility Assists in active implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA VPP, ISO, JCAHO, AAAHC, and other mandated regulations/standards Experience & Education: Bilingual in Spanish & English Minimum age of 21 years or older High school diploma or its equivalent Clean criminal background check Clean Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) or child protective services check / Preferred Qualifications: Experience with children in child welfare or social service setting Flexibility and willingness to travel as needed Excellent presentation skills, as well as oral and written communication skills Proficiency with computer, common office equipment, and MS Office products Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit for more than 8 hours per day Must be willing to work over-time if necessary Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation Must complete Urine Drug Screen Must have valid U.S. work authorization
