Job Purpose:
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: ESSENTIAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
*Back up to and help Hay manager tasks as needed, Perform regular farming tasks such as thinning, picking, pruning when hay work is not available.
*Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
*Valid driver’s license/reliable transportation
*Handlers card- can be provided
*Feed cattle multiple times a day, Along with refreshing water and turning on sprinklers. Assist in moving cattle, loading cattle, help with medical emergencies such as the birth of calves.
*Ability to keep records and provide information to manager
*Performing laborious farm activities like driving tractors on the field, operating field-based machinery and equipment, spraying fertilizers on field, managing livestocks, etc.
*Drive to learn new tasks
*Ability to drive tractors and other machinery/willing to learn
*Moving irrigation water in sets through hay fields, along with moving wheel lines and hand lines.
*Using different machinery to land prep, cut, rack, bail, and seed.
*Covering hay with tarps.
*Loading and unloading hay for company and buyers.
*Pulling weeds and applying weed spray as needed."
MACHINERY, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
TRACTOR, SPREADERS, MOWERS, BAILER, SWATHER
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic face coverings are required.
Expectations
Must complete all Employer safety training.
Must be able to work long hours and at night when needed.
Must be available to work up to 9 hours a day 7 days a week for the duration of harvest.
Ability to lift 50- 60 lbs
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions; wind, cold, heat, smoke, wet.
Must be on time and ready to work at the scheduled time.
Must be on call during cattle birthing season.
*Running equipment such as (but not limited to) bulldozers, backhoes, etc
Hours vary - between days/ evenings, weekdays- weekends, mon-Sunday- schedule will be discussed
