Upright Bass Player Wanted

Meets

Brookfield IL

Description

The upright bassist we're ideally hoping to find can: improvise, collaborate, lock onto the one, listen well, communicate, follow/lead a jam down the rabbit hole and back out again, groove, play melodically, deliver a serious thump when called for, and appreciate the various styles of music we play. Our band is currently a guitarist and a drummer. We’re in our early 50’s. Prior to the pandemic and our bassist’s recently being accepted to the University of North Texas (which houses the largest upright bass program in the world..who knew?), we played out a couple times a month and rehearsed once a week on weekday evenings. To get there as a band takes practice. No practice equals no progress. We play a type of music we like to call psychedeliamericana. A mix of covers, originals, and traditionals. A few of our many mutual influences include Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, The Band, Neil Young, along with their influences, protégés, and spin offs. The Wolf Bros currently occupy a lot of the same musical space in which we find ourselves. We want to continue to write and record original material while adding covers that we enjoy playing in the live set. Once things open up again, we’d like to play out consistently and add venues and festivals outside of the Chicago area while trying to continue to build an audience at the local level. We have a small but free home practice space with free parking. We have a small PA. Music and video available upon request.
