Interested in volunteering with Surfrider? Ocean Friendly Restaurants is looking for amazing volunteers to share our new educational campaign, Upon Request Only, with restaurants and food trucks all over Maui. Upon Request Only is based on Ordinance 5084, which comes into effect January 2022, and bans the sale or use of disposable plastic, including to-go containers, plates, cups, straws, and utensils. This is a huge win for protecting our oceans and cutting down on plastic pollution! We are asking restaurants to take an important first step by only supplying customers with utensils upon request. We welcome any and all those interested in being part of our fun team of volunteers as we work with restaurants on Maui to eliminate plastic waste. The time commitment is only a few hours a week, and includes canvassing Maui restaurants and food trucks to spread the word. Be a part of one of the strongest plastic bans in the nation!
