JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Porter Summary: Keeps premises of office building, apartment house, or other commercial or institutional building in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim. • Cleans rooms, conference room, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas. • Check conference center schedule to ensure set ups are completed. • Turn lights on in all conference rooms. • Spray Biotech patio (2 days per week). • Clean atrium furniture as needed. • Dust common areas per schedule. • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor. • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies. • Dusts furniture and equipment. • Polishes metalwork. • Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork. • Washes windows, door panels, and sills. • Empties wastebaskets, and empties and cleans ashtrays. • Transports trash and waste to disposal area. • Replenishes bathroom supplies. • Close and clean all north end bathrooms. • Close and clean ARP locker room. • Replaces light bulbs. • Cuts and trims grass, and shovels snow. • Delivers messages. • Transports small equipment or tools between departments. • Sets up tables and chairs in auditorium or hall. • Review conference center schedule for room set ups for following day. • Review with Porter 2 any after hour changes. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Ability: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Math Ability: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Computer Skills: No Computer skills needed. Certificates and Licenses: No certifications needed Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
